Successful Sandhill and Whooping-crane work spearheads Operation Migration USA
In the spring, the Sandhill cranes from the third study reveal they have kept their wildness. They are joined by a wild Sandhill and rather than returning to Canada, the group remains in the United States, keeping a safe distance from humans.
The Whooping Crane Recovery Team gives Operation Migration sanction to spearhead the introduction of a second migratory flock of Whooping cranes.
Operation Migration-USA is formed and granted 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable status.
