Migration 2004

Fall Ultralight-Guided Whooping Crane Migration
Wisconsin to Florida

Date: November 5, 2004 |  Day 27

Welcome to Indiana - Boone County

At 6:23 central time zone, Richard van Heuvelen crested the small hill, which hides the cranes travel enclosure.
Upon arriving in Boone County, IN - 92-miles after taking to the air, the young cranes were ready to land.
Fortunately, we were able to skip a scheduled stopover in Benton County - Unfortunately, the pilots had to entertain the youngsters for about 2 hours until the travel pen arrived from the site we passed over.
