December 30, 2008 - Day 64 On to Chilton County, AL

When Chris Gullikson gave the okay to release the birds at 7:22 am 10 blasted out of the pen while the remaining 4 stayed in the pen. I captured this photo this morning from under the Swamp Monster tarp where I was again positioned next to the nearby pond.
Bev and Walter quickly coaxed out the 4 birds that lagged behind and here are two of them as they flew past, attempting to catch up to Chris.
Chris did a couple of circuits to allow them time to catch up, which they did and the next time they passed overhead he had all fourteen cranes trailing him.
After a couple rounds of crane rodeo where the birds kept breaking off and forming up on Brooke's aircraft, thirteen eventually settled in with Chris and off in the distance Brooke has one lone bird - and it's not our normal lone flyer #827 but rather #814
Chris' thirteen birds trail off his left wingtip as they passed by Alabama Power Company's Miller plant in West Jefferson County.
After a flight lasting 1:50 everybirdy, including our 3 pilots arrived in Chilton County, AL.
